The idea to organize the Young Textile Symposium , similarly to the idea of the YTAT international student exhibition, arose from the need which we had observed. Conversations with teachers and friends, participants of the first edition of YTAT, but first and foremost – with participants of the Campus@Heimtextil meeting organized each January in Frankfurt, led to the same conclusions.
A student exhibition is a good way of presenting effects of works of students and teachers who feel the need to work in the field of ‘Textile Art’ in the fast changing world. It is impossible to ignore changes which we are witnessing and experiencing. One cannot but notice that the need for confrontation, exchange of opinions and consolidation is more real than ever before.
We hope that this May day will become an opportunity for a debate on the present situation and the future of education in the field of art with special regard to textile art and textile design.
