YOUNG TEXTILE ART TRIENNIAL – ŁÓDŹ 2013 is the first edition of an international exhibition and a competition in the field of broadly defined textile art addressed to students of art academies from all over the world. Professor Jolanta Rudzka-Habisiak, Rector of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź, has granted her honorary patronage to the event. Young Textile Art Triennial – Łódź 2013 is a project addressed to students of the B.A. and M.A. programmes as well as to graduates who received their diplomas in the academic year 2011/2012. The participants come from 14 art academies from Europe (Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Great Britain and Poland), China and the United States. The event is organized by the DEPARTMENT OF TEXTILE of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź in cooperation with the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź (CMW – www.muzeumwlokiennictwa.pl). The Programming Board of the 14th International Triennial of Tapestry in Łódź qualified the Young Textile Art Triennial as one of its main satellite events. |
In May 2013 all the participants will have an opportunity to present their works in a most prestigious place – the exhibition rooms of the Central Museum of Textiles (800 m2 of exhibition space). The event will be held simultaneously with an exhibition of mature, noted artists, which will take place in another part of the Museum. The aim of the project is to create an international platform for presenting achievements of the generation of young creators of ARTISTIC TEXTILE and promoting their accomplishments in the field of this elite and unique specialization. During the first Young Textile Art Triennial – Łódź 2013, approximately 65 textiles will be presented, including the works of the students from the Department of Textile and the Department of Textile Printing of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź. The preselection of exhibits was based on internal selection at each of the home academies of the young artists. All of the exhibited art works will be presented in a bilingual exhibition catalogue. The exhibition opening and the award ceremony will take place on May 6, 2013 at 5 p.m. in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, 282 Piotrkowska Street.
